How we write about photos, keepsakes, and breastfeeding — and what this site is not

Quick answer

Tree of Life Breastfeeding is a free photo tool plus related guides. Breastfeeding articles here are general information, not medical advice, and they are not a substitute for a lactation consultant or physician. We prefer named public sources for clinical claims, we do not shame feeding choices, and we update seasonal pages when dates pass.

This page is the rule sheet for every marketing and support URL on the site. If a draft cannot meet it, it should not publish.

Standards

What we commit to

Not medical advice

Anything about infant feeding, pain, supply, latch, or health is educational only. If feeding hurts, baby is not gaining, or you are worried, contact a qualified clinician. Emergency symptoms belong with urgent care or emergency services, not a website.

Prefer named sources for clinical claims

When a page states a clinical fact (for example typical newborn feeding frequency), we aim to point to a public authority such as the CDC, AAP, WHO, or a named lactation organization — not an unsourced round number. If a draft cannot be sourced, we cut the claim or label it as general experience.

Photo how-tos are product documentation

Tutorials, print sizes, and editor comparisons describe how this tool and common apps work. They are not photography medical advice. Lighting and pose tips are practical, not clinical.

No feeding shame

Copy must not imply that pumping is “giving up,” that formula is failure, or that a parent must share feeding photos. Keepsakes are optional.

Corrections

If something is wrong, we fix the page and update dateModified. Factual errors on support pages take priority over marketing polish.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Tree of Life Breastfeeding medical advice?

No. Articles about latch, supply, pumping, NICU feeding, or public-nursing rights are general information for parents. They are not a diagnosis, treatment plan, or a substitute for care from a physician, midwife, nurse, or lactation consultant (IBCLC or CLC).

Who writes the content?

Marketing and how-to pages are written for this site to explain the free Tree of Life photo tool and related keepsake ideas. Breastfeeding support pages describe common parent experiences. They are not signed clinical reviews unless a page explicitly names a credentialed reviewer.

How often is content updated?

How-to and product pages are updated when the editor changes. Support and seasonal pages are reviewed at least twice a year, or sooner when a date-specific event (such as World Breastfeeding Week) has passed. Each article’s structured data includes a dateModified field when we revise it.

How do you handle feeding choices?

Nursing at the breast, pumping, combination feeding, and formula are all valid. We do not treat any of those as a lesser option, and we do not use language that shames how a baby is fed.
